About

With a professional practice spanning twenty years Hannah has shown in galleries and festivals in New Zealand and around the world. Hannah gained a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Canterbury. She has been an Olivia Spencer Bower Trust Award Recipient and Artist in Residence at Scott Base, Antarctica. In 2016 she won the Parkin Prize for Drawing.
Her often playful work examines notions of magic through an investigation of natural phenomena.
These explorations of the natural world are inhabited by the exotic, the sublime and the monstrous. A storyteller and collector, her cabinet of curiosities reflects a sense of wonder, while suggesting that things may not be as they seem. Hannah pulls all manner of dreams and visions through cracks and holes and into the gallery, confidently transporting the viewer to a new reality.
